On April 4, 2011, the TTU Early Music Ensemble will present a production of Hildegard von Bingen's Ordo Virtutum. The "Ordo" is one of the first extant medieval dramas with music, and definitely a first for Lubbock. Don't miss this event!
Come join the TTU Early Music Ensemble Sunday evening 11/14 for a FREE concert of gorgeous music by Monteverdi (and some other Italians!), sung and played in the beautiful acoustics of the Legacy Great Hall in Lubbock, TX. On Sunday, April 18 at 7:00 PM in the Talkington Great Hall at the Legacy Event Center, some of our TTU Early Music Ensemble singers will join the Texas Tech University Celtic Ensemble (http://ttucelticensemble.com) for a concert entitled “The Rolling Wave: Maritime Celts”. Singers and players will perform dances, songs, listening pieces, and tunes associated with the Celtic experience around the watery globe and across the centuries. Students, families, and seniors are especially welcome.
PM: Worlds of Dance: A Terpsichorean Evening with the TTU Vernacular Music Center. Featuring the TTU Early Music Ensemble, the Celtic Ensemble, the TTU Ragtime Ensemble, and the World Music Ensemble, assisted by the Tech Set-Dancers. Music and dances from Irish, English, African-American, Mediterranean, Polynesian, and South American traditions. Master Class for the recorder players in the Early Music Ensemble, with Norwegian recorder virtuoso Jostein Gundersen. The previous Monday evening, Jostein also joined our colleague, harpsichordist Sigurd Ogaard, for a fantastic guest artist recital with music by Telemann, Corelli, and Handel.
Members of the TTU Early Music Ensemble provided music for the TTU Museum's "Ren Faire" that was held in conjunction with a new Exhibit, "A Double-Edged Weapon, The Sword as Icon and Artifact," featuring historical weapons on loan from the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, MA.
